Hanger Rod Canopies
A hanger rod canopy is a commercial aluminum canopy suspended from the building's structure above on powder-coated 304 stainless steel rod. How a Hanger Rod Canopy Works
Hanger rod canopies hang from the structure above the entry instead of relying on the wall alone. Threaded 304 stainless steel rods run from steel attachment points at the building down to the aluminum canopy frame, so the canopy's dead load and its live loads (wind and snow) transfer up through the rods into the overhead structure. Our engineers size the rod, the rod spacing, and the angle to those loads. The cover is aluminum; the steel is the rod and the hardware. The rod and attachment points are powder-coated to match the canopy, so the visible suspension hardware reads as part of the design. That look has become a signature of modern retail, restaurant, and mixed-use entries.
Projections can vary, and 2 to 10 feet is typical. Larger than that is engineered to the overhead structure.

Hanger Rod or Cantilever
Choose hanger rod when the cover needs to reach farther from the wall, or when you want the suspension hardware to be part of the look. Choose cantilever when the entry needs no more than 5 feet of projection and you want no visible supports. Many projects use both: cantilever at the main entrance, hanger rod where the cover has to reach farther.

Fab-only suppliers ship only. Many modular systems ship in fixed lengths, often 4', 6', 8', or 10' sections, so a 16' opening may mean piecing together two 6' modules and a 4'. We build the exact length you need, including odd sizes like 17'. Jackson Williams fabricates to your exact projection (2 to 10 feet is typical), then either ships through JW Direct or installs across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Same shop either way.
