How a Cantilever Canopy Works
A cantilever canopy projects outward from the building facade with no visible columns or ground supports. Concealed brackets anchored into the wall carry the canopy, so the walkway below stays clear and the entrance reads clean and modern. Because the wall carries the load, the design depends on the building's structural capacity, the canopy's dead load, and local wind and snow load requirements. Our engineering team evaluates those conditions during design.

Cantilever or hanger rod?
A cantilever projects 5 feet at most. It covers an entrance, and the brackets stay in the wall so no column lands in the walkway. Anything deeper goes to hanger rod canopies or columns. A hanger rod canopy projects 2 to 10 feet typical, and anything larger is engineered to the overhead structure. Many projects use both: cantilever at the main entrance, hanger rod where the cover has to reach farther. The final choice depends on the building and the engineering.

Custom-built, not pieced together
Fab-only suppliers ship only. Many modular systems ship in fixed lengths, often 4', 6', 8', or 10' sections, so a 16' opening may mean piecing together two 6' modules and a 4'. We build the exact length you need, including odd sizes like 17'. Jackson Williams fabricates to your exact projection (up to 5 feet), then either ships through JW Direct or installs across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. Same shop either way.
